Invest in Clean, Renewable Power
United Power members can purchase clean, renewable electric power through United Power’s Green Power Partners program. As a Green Power Partner, you can invest in renewable power by purchasing 100 kilowatt-hour blocks. Sign up to purchase as many blocks as you would like.
Your participation in Green Power Partners helps to direct our power supplier, Tri-State Generation and Transmission, to purchase new, renewable energy to add to our power mix.
United Power’s Green Power Partners are currently purchasing renewable wind energy through Tri-State from a variety of sources. Tri-State purchases wind power from Platte River Power Authority’s wind farm located near Medicine Bow, Wyoming, and from Basin Electric’s Prairie Winds Program, which consists of six wind projects totaling 85 megawatts. Wind power and other renewable resources such as small hydropower, biomass and solar energy are purchased on the open market by Tri-State through a system of “green tags” or “green certificates.”
100% of the dollars invested in this program go toward the purchase of new, renewable electric power production, such as wind, solar, and biomass, and fund research and development of emerging renewable technologies.

Green Power Partners FAQs
Green Power purchases are in addition to your regular monthly electric bill and will be added as another line item to your regular monthly charges. Your investment in the program helps to ensure energy purchases are from clean, renewable power sources.
Green Power blocks are sold in 100 kWh increments. The average consumer can ensure 100% of their usage is generated from renewable power by purchasing 10 blocks per month. You select a fixed number of blocks to buy each month, so if you’d like a more accurate figure, simply calculate your annual energy usage to determine how many blocks per month to purchase.
Your Green Power Partners purchases are an additional charge on your monthly bill and do not replace your regular energy or demand charges.
There is no commitment to participate in the Green Power Partners program. Sign up and you’ll stay enrolled until you notify United Power that you’d like to discontinue your participation.
